Conventional Hindu story
a headache
By choefnagels on 2010-02-19 22:14:38

I seemly contemplate myself rather unbreakable. Undoubtedly, I had experienced some injuries in the past such as dislocating my shoulder  a few occasions but insteading of fixing them by surgery, it usually recover swiftly. I know I am nevertheless very young. When I played boxing, I had got a few fat lips, black eyes, abrations, swellings and a cracked thumb. But it cannot cease me hold going on my personal tracks.

This is not due to the fact I’m any kind of hard guy. I suspect it’s much more to do with the no sense, no feeling factor. Or plain stupidity. I’m leaning towards the latter.

Last summer time (09), I was cajoled and nagged in to taking component in a 10K road race while on holiday. With no preparation other than fairly infrequent 3 mile loops at residence, I turned up in my clapped out trainers and got about in 56 minutes. Not too shabby all things considered and I rather enjoyed it! I carried on carrying out some miles on the nation roads of Rutlandshire, and managed to get up to just shy of the half marathon distance. All was very good. I was nevertheless in my clapped out trainers and it is fair to say I was getting my money’s worth out of them and at £30 from the bargain bucket they had been a fantastic deal!

Then my wife, Joanna, signed up and got a place in the London Marathon and I was quite quiet about how effectively or otherwise I was performing to stay away from the accusation of ‘competition’. What Joanna did introduce me to even though, was a proper running shop. It is a fantastic spot that offers prime service and guidance. Who knew there have been so numerous different sorts of running shoe, providing stability and help and stuff? Cue a shiny pair of Nike Structure 12 Triax.

Quickly-forward to early Might and I signed up for some events and duly set about my instruction with renewed gusto. I was generating fair use of our treadmill and thoroughly enjoying racking up the miles. I was enjoying it so significantly I was operating every single day and loving it. I had a handful of niggles. Practically nothing other than minor annoyances and they went away soon adequate. All except for the knee which stayed sore and was obtaining uncomfortable to stroll on.

It really is at this point that I know I need to have backed off and rested it. Of course what I actually did was to maintain going, proper up to the point where it gave out. Top concept which was followed by an additional stroke of genius as I invested in some knee supports, which helped a small. So I carried on. In preparation for the Mid-Summer season Madness 20K I did a ten miler and the discomfort from that had settled just in time for event day.

By the time I completed a race that should have had a well being warning attached (OK it was organised by Go Beyond, Human Endurance Defined and had Madness in the title, but come on!) my knee was carried out. Completed. Although at that point I was convinced, by somebody masquerading as a doctor, that it was ITB (Illial Tibial Band. No, I don’t genuinely know either) related. After a week of a variety of torturous stretches, rolls and assorted nonsense it had gotten worse. Lastly I caved and went to see the trusty physio.

Patellar tendonitis was the diagnosis. As well a lot, as well soon, do not pass go and do not gather £200. In fact, hand it over right here sonny, that’ll do nicely. No operating for 3 weeks but I was told I could swim until I grew gills. Excellent. Man from Atlantis here I come. It turns out I rather like swimming. I used to swim competitively as a kid and there is nonetheless a modicum of style there, if not the stamina. Swimming constantly for even a couple of lengths is really quite hard operate to the born-once again novice it turns out. It also produced me stone deaf from waterlogged ears, to the amusement of my young children and the utter annoyance of my beloved. For me it was an added bonus. No, I cannot feel why either!

Anyway… So soon after 3 weeks of swimming only I was permitted out on terra firma for the 1st time. Two miles at 9 minute mile pace. My physio need to have had a sixth sense that I’d be a late payer and was obtaining in a pre-emptive strike. A mile and a half and a lung worn on the outdoors later, it occurred to me that 9 minute pace was a bit considerably soon after a lengthy lay-off. Following a couple of weeks of two mile runs and no significant complaints I was off the leash. Properly, nearly. I am permitted to build up mileage at a price of .five mile increments with every single run. Tomorrow sees me go at a steady paced five miler.

When I am running now, it really is heart in mouth stuff. I am continually expecting the left knee to go and by the finish of the last run my appropriate knee was sore and the theory is that I am more than-compensating. Of course, any clued-in observer may possibly recommend that I just hop and be done with it. Save the dodgy knee and no real loss of speed. I’m not the quickest chap on the block for sure.

I consider for the most portion it’s all in the mind now. There is nothing to suggest that the injury will be recurring, as extended as I create up gradually, I want to be challenging with myself. I also learned a beneficial lesson when it comes to coaching volumes. Exercising every day is wonderful if you’re up to it but it is worth thinking about mixing it up a bit. I am no triathlete (however!), but the addition of swimming hasn’t completed my cardio any harm at all and I’m now about to add some cycling.

I’ve emerged stronger in thoughts and body as a result of being a numpty. All in all, not a bad outcome. Which is just as well with what lies ahead. Now that’s an additional story.

  1. For all the people wondering NO in hinduism or sanatan dharma there is only one god and his name is almighty god shiva every other god representation is his recarnation.

  2. You guys have tried to define the tangibility of the creator…. Muslims, according to a human being in his fullest human form ( Mohammed). Hindus, definitely, confused and confusing to the core.

  3. My brother and sister in humanity
Allah (GOD) says in Quran in chapter 112 about him self ,say He is Allah (GOD)The One ,Allah(GOD)The Eternal He does not beget(no children )and HE is not born (no parents) and there is no one like him.

This description of GOD is found in the hindu scriptures Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan"

"There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit."The Atharvaveda praises God in Book 20, hymn 58 and verse 3:This same as ,say He Allah is the One

    "Dev maha osi"
"God is verily great"this same as Allah akbar(GOD is the Greatest)
[Atharvaveda 20:58 The Atharvaveda praises God in Book 20, hymn 58 and verse 3:

    "Dev maha osi"
    "God is verily great""Ekam evadvitiyam"
"He is One only without a second."
    [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]1

"Na casya kascij janita na cadhipah."
"Of Him there are neither parents nor lord."
[Svetasvatara Upanishad 6:9]2 This same as ,He is not begotten, Quran Soora 112

    "Na tasya pratima asti"
"There is no likeness of Him."
    [Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19]3
    [Atharvaveda 20:58"Na tasya pratima asti"
"There is no likeness of Him" this same as there is no one like him.Quran Soora 112

The following verse from the Rigveda Book 8, hymn 1, verse 1 refer to the Unity and Glory of the Supreme Being:

"Ma cid anyad vi sansata sakhayo ma rishanyata"
"O friends, do not worship anybody but Him, the Divine One. Praise Him alone."
[Rigveda 8:1:1]10 This command is in the Quran ,your Lord has decreed ,that you worship him alone Soora 17,23

    "Devasya samituk parishtutih"
"Verily, great is the glory of the Divine Creator."
    [Rigveda 5:1:81]11
    "Andhatama pravishanti ye asambhuti mupaste"
"They enter darkness, those who worship the natural elements" ( idle worship Air, Water, Fire, etc.). "They sink deeper in darkness, those who worship sambhuti."
    "Devasya samituk parishtutih"
"Verily, great is the glory of the Divine Creator."
    [Rigveda 5:1:81]11 0
lastly Allah (GOD)says indeed we send a messenger (telling them to)worship Allah and avoid false gods, so why not worship Allah(GOD) alone so you may attain peace in this world and salvation in this next life ,I pray to Allah he guides you and and amends your affairs take care

  4. I doubt she is a historian….she doesn’t seem knowledgeable at all….I think they choose her so that she fits in the narrative that they already have

  5. morgan freeman isnt meeting the right people in order to ger the right information on hindu beliefs …she is still half baked

  6. ’33 Crore Gods’ is a completely misinterpreted fact due to wrong translation of Vedic Sanskrit by certain foreign ‘scholars’.
The term ‘trayastrimsati koti’ mentioned in Atharva Veda, Yajur Veda, and Satapatha-brahmana, is rightly translated as 33 Gods.
The term koti in Sanskrit has two meaning, one is ‘type’ and the other is Crore.
So, somewhere in translation, they missed the basic fact that Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism has 33 Supreme Gods and not 33 Crore Gods.
    According to Vedas there are 33 Gods/Devas. These Gods are separated in the following pattern : 12 + 11 + 8 + 2.
12 is the number of Adityas, 11 are the number of Rudras, 8 is the number of Vasus, 1 is Prajapati, the Master of Gods, and 1 is the Supreme Ruler who is very powerful.

  7. the oldest Hindu texts enumerate 33 principle Devas who were the guardians of Nature and Cosmic Creation.

    These are:
12 Adityas or Solar gods including Indra, Surya, Mitra and Varun
11 Rudras, the Manifestations of Lord Shiva
8 Vasus or Elemental gods such as Vayu, Agni, Antariksh and Dyaus, the Sky God
    Prajapati Brahma
    Shri Hari Vishnu

  8. Ok I am lost here, every documentary says otherwise. Are the hindu deities metaphorical or they believe they exist?

  9. Hindu gods r real. ..
    vishnu is a – material.,
    brahma is – knowledge.,
shiva is – feeling soul of material body, earth an knowledge.,
supreme goddess UMA is – power of our body… she taken the power of trinity and given the birth to earth and us.,
when u see the pics of Lord shiva there is goddess is the half part of shiva, vishnu comes out frm the another half part body of shiva and everyones know that brahma comes out frm the vishnus navel.,
so everything comes frm shiva so shiva is supreme God and totally real.

  10. there are 33 crore devi’s and devtass but god is one only shiva. each devi and devtass has different duties like sarasvati is devi of wisdom, knowledge and music and inder is devta of rain cloud

  11. i don’t understand y westerners and some Asians also believe Hindus believe in many gods. seriously! tel me is Butter and Milk are same thing? but they certainly come from cow right? When will they understand it? its OK if they don’t care about Hinduism but if they’re making a documentary and is already popular series then should at-least show minimum responsibility to know whats it really about before blindly saying just anything. ?

  12. kon h ye agyaani aurat?? or millions god kahan likhaa h ye pucho isse pagal kahin ki sara religion tabah kr degi ye?

  13. Mohammed is the one who borrowed scriptures from the previous books, added his own self satisfying theories and to his and his followers’ convenience. called it islam

  14. West is clever and sinister than we think…. especially the western media….To the people who are curious, Hinduism is not a baseless logicless religion…. Research for yourself there is so much out there…You will know the beautiful delicate thread that guides us.

  15. All these Gods are mass produced in factories by men and sold on the open market, that alone explains alot.

  16. Even normal hindu don’t know how many gods are their in their religion, some say 1 million some say 100 million ,so say 1, 3 and so on.
they pray to one god to defeat another god,lol
some pagan rituals are there too.
which has nothing to do with yr problem.
According to HINDUISM EVERY THING IS GOD . and now the start counting mountains, rivers,ANIMAL’S,PLANTS ……………………………….

  17. As a hindu myself let me tell u guys what i know about my religion..
Guys there is nothing to know no story to believe no god to follow because Hinduism is not a religion. it is freedom of religion.
And if someone claims to describe a set theory, a set belief system about Hinduism he is just saying his opinion like me.

  18. Here are few question about Hindu believe and god
    1. Ram is a god but ram could not know who steal her wife Sita ? It is hanuman who went out and found Sita was kidnaped by ravana?
    2. Ram is god but he worshipped another god .
3.Brahman priest who worship Ram in a temple could not eat meat while worshiping But Ram can kill deer and eat her meat .
4.Hanuman also god but he does not know how a Sanjibini root looks like so he carried entire mountain in his solder ..
5.Shiva is also a god but he could not recognize his son Ganesha and behaded Ganesha just because Ganesha did not allow shiva to meet his wife Parvati.
6.Ganesha is also a god but who could not protect himself for being beheaded by his father shiva..
I think now you might have confused about Hindu gods and their helplessness basically Hinduism is a brahamanic system where upper cast brahman have created stories to rule the lowercast and enjoy the good life ..

  19. Leaving all the argument’s aside…Morgan Freeman is actually walking on the streets of India can we just focus on that part.

  20. There are in fact an infinite number of gods. But ever wondered why?
Because Sanathan Dharma(Hinduism) lets you choose your own God. So in the ancient time, people comes up with different gods based on their functions. The amazing thing is that you can always add up to that number and contribute to the god anytime.
Though the fact is, there is only one true entity Brahman which is formless. You can choose Brahman also as a god that way you don’t need to have an idol to worship. And every god is a part of Brahman.

  21. I don’t understand how these western experts find these Indians that don’t know how to interpret our beliefs to them. We do have a priesthood. We don’t distinguish between celestial beings because we are mere humans. It’s like asking a person on the street, how many stars are there is the universe and which one is the best one. Does the best star in the universe actually controls all the other stars. Good one Mr. Morgan Freeman! There is only one avatar that said I AM. No other. The praise of other deities is required because in the spiritual realm, these deities bless us and our lives. To receive these blessings without thanks and praise to those deities is a person who is a thief. For western thought, deities is Angels. Our deities fly just like the Angels. There is also a realm of demons, or Devils. The Devils are just like the devil in the bible. Trying to cause humans to change their lives in the wrong direction.

  22. The way she explains the concept of many Gods in Hinduism is so amateur, why do we worship so many Gods? Or do we worship only one God? The concept & philosophy of Hinduism is complex. We believe in soul, every creature has a soul & our soul is the reflection of the transcendental, we believe in invoking this soul through rituals, worship of deities with certain specific attributes or through cleansing of our deeds ( karma), following the path of righteousness and being one with the transcendental who has no form. We worship in a way show respect to different aspects of nature where God manifests itself. And again we believe in being atheists also. Hinduism is not a religion, it is a way of life which takes you close to enlightenment.

  23. Big Church propaganda! They found the right woman to explain the God. Bravo!!! If I had no background knowledge, I would saY: this Hindus are crazy.

  24. that’s wrong people thinks we have 33 million gods but we just have 33 god…… as written in Rigved we have 33 koti god western scholars mis-translated koti to million but koti has two meaning first million and second type thus we have 33 type of god 11 in heaven 11 in atmosphere 11 on earth(incarnations) as written in Rig ved

  25. Hindu reg-veda says God invisible as OauM, visible as eternal complete perfect Holy good men ( parama athma = pure soul), Hindu-arya main principal.
